As an active woman in my early 60's, I both treasure and rely upon my mobility. I was a competitive sprinter during high school and college, and for the next 30 years or so, ran 2 or 3 miles, 5 days/week for exercise. Have always been big on walking, too, and live in a city (San Francisco) which lends itself to combining pedestrian activity with daily chores and errand-running. But in 2017, I sustained an injury while treading on uneven terrain, and was ultimately diagnosed via MRI with a lateral tear to my right peroneal brevis tendon.
The injury initially sidelined me for several months... and subsequently, even after regaining some strength and stability following a half-year of PT, I still experienced acute pain after being on my feet for sustained intervals. Throughout the entire ordeal, I tried countless types and brands of corrective insoles designed to prevent over-supination -- but none of them really worked, and a few even exacerbated my condition. Neither my physical therapist nor the orthopedic surgeon I consulted were helpful in recommending the right insole.
So it was with skepticism that I decided to order these lateral wedge insoles.... and subsequently, it was with delight when at long last I finally found something that REALLY DOES WORK for alleviating my condition!! After about a year since my injury, I can now be on my feet for 4 to 5 hours at a time without suffering the painful after-effects the next morning, which literally left me limping.
I now wear these insoles regularly and interchangeably, as they fil into everything from my trusty Doc Martins to Stan Smiths to low-heeled dress booties! Honestly, the are a godsend for whenever I know I'll be walking for more than a couple blocks at a time. I strongly RECOMMEND THESE to anyone who has suffered a peroneal tendon injury like mine, despairing that they'll ever regain the comfort and mobility they once enjoyed. Worth every penny!!
