Be sure to read our conditions page on peroneal tendon tears. What you'll read about is how the peroneal tendons are most commonly injured with inversion sprains. Basically what happens is that as the ankle starts to roll, the peroneal tendons pull up against the fibula to resist the sprain. In some cases, that force is so great that the tendon ruptures. Therefore, the most important aspect of a brace for PB tears is to inhibit inversion. The AirSport is great for that. The Swedo Brace would do well too.
