Search Engine Submission Guidelines

 

  1. DO NOT spam the search engines with multiple posts of your Associate code, as it will only cause them to remove your link from their engine and will lead to the termination of your Associate account.

  2. Doorway pages are an acceptable method of marketing your Associate Link Code. They require that you have a website, as you will need to put the page onto your own webserver.

    A doorway page is a page that has been created to get a high ranking for a particular keyword or set of keywords. These pages act as "doorways" to your site. Visitors arrive on these pages from the search engine, and enter your website (or your co-branded MyFootShop site)

    Let us say you have 10 different search phrases you want to target, and you want to be in the top 10 on Google, AltaVista, Lycos, and AOL. A page that is designed to get a top 10 ranking on say Google will not do well on AltaVista. To get a top ten ranking on each search engines you most likely will have to make 10 pages x 4 search engines = 40 pages. It is best to make special doorway pages in most cases, rather than try to use normal pages, because the wording will have to be written to fit to what gets you a high score on the search engine.

    How do I make a doorway page?

    1. First, pick an engine to make a doorway page for. We recommend Infoseek and AltaVista, because they index rapidly.

    2. Find out all the information you can on the engine you have chosen.

    3. Now, name the doorway page something specific. Do not call it index1.htm, index2.htm. Give it a real name like: educational-toys.htm. (no spaces!)

    4. Decide what keywords you are going to use. Make them very specific, choose only a few phrases. Don't try configuring for many different phrases. Use 8 at most, per page.

    5. Go to your new page and configure the title, description and keywords meta tag appropriately for that engine. Search Engine Submission Criteria Chart       More About Meta-Tags

    6. Write your text according to the specifics of that engine. Keyword frequency in the text is generally the most important element.

    8.Check your keyword frequency in Keyword Counter. Check it against several competitor's keyword frequency.

    9. Try to make your keyword frequency for individual words similar to a competitor which ranks high.

    10. To best build a doorway page for your Associate Link Codes, you can create your doorway page to look like a product page, using our Dynamic Link generator to generate code that will display our product photos and product names from our inventory on your doorway page. This way more keywords are built into the page content. Optionally, you can build it to look like the entrance to a website, or like a directory of links. All links on this doorway page should have your AssociateID embedded so that no matter what a person clicks, you will get the credit for having referred the sale.

    11. Submit your page to the engine you have specifically created the doorway page for.
